Cool Stuff Studios of Abbotsford, British Columbia, will transform the current sanctuary into the Kids Street Worship Center.

The church inked the $45,600 contract March 10 with Cool Stuff, which has created worship environments for children in Colorado, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

For Triad, Cool Stuff will build a 3-D stage backdrop featuring a car, bridge, church, house, built-in puppet stage, Kids Street logo and piece that turns the sanctuary’s Connector entrance into a large tree and main entrance.

The $45,460 cost is part of the $81,000 approved earlier for the overall sanctuary upfit. That amount covers set installation and construction, new flooring, seats to replace pews in the sanctuary’s lower level, a pipe and drape system to mark off the Kids Street Worship Center space on Sundays, a new soundboard, wireless microphones and iPad for remote control, and digital puppetry screens and other equipment.

Executive and Children’s Pastor Tim Gerber, Assistant Children’s Ministry Director Austin Needham and Creative Communications Director Jeremy Chandler are leading the upfit. All met with Cool Stuff Studios designer Any Perez at Triad on March 5 for a brainstorming session and measurements to finalize the contract.

“Initially, Any sent me hand drawings and a few digital drawings of her concept which was right in line with what we envisioned, and the way we wanted to bring the Kids Street branding and ‘Where friends find faith’ theme come to life,” Chandler said. “At that point we had narrowed the choice down to two companies.

“I was very impressed with Any’s work and spirit. We had several Skype conversations to align our overall vision which we finalized during her in-person visit. She also took measurements for a future project for another ministry while here.”

Gerber said that the new set won’t go up until sometime after Vacation Bible School to give the VBS set construction team all the time and space it needs to prepare.

“It’s exciting to see our plans start to take shape, and to move one step closer to a vision we’ve had for years,” Gerber said.

Added Needham, “Ultimately, this new space is about tapping technology and media to deliver the same biblical truths that remain the foundation of our teaching but in a more inviting environment that fosters interactivity and engagement and reaches more children for Christ.”
